Digital Navigation OKR
Expand Digital Navigation (DN) support to ensure we are reaching and empowering covered populations.
Key Result: Identify at least four (4) community locations (including one anchor organization) to continue to host DN office hours, collaborating with the advocacy and data program director, focusing on opportunity zones, covered populations, and where gaps may exist.
As part of our ongoing efforts to provide Digital Navigator (DN) office hours, the CDE has begun advertising office hours to residents at various events to maintain engagement over time. For example:
- Digital Navigators were on hand to help at Southside Homes during an event connected with Access Charlotte, ensuring that residents could sign up for reduced-cost internet access. Navigators promoted their office hours and offered to answer questions to help residents get online.
- Digital Navigators were also available at a laptop distribution held at St. Luke’s Missionary Baptist Church. Again, Navigators encouraged residents to come by during office hours if they had questions or simply needed help using their new device.
These events not only served as a way to advertise office hours but also as pilot programs with different organizations, the goal being to develop a repeatable process that can be scaled effectively. The long-term plan is to partner with anchor organizations, such as Goodwill (scheduled to start soon), who will host DN office hours on a regular schedule. This would not only provide ongoing opportunities for DN office hours but also give residents choices when they request to speak with a Digital Navigator. (For example, a resident visiting a CDE web portal may ultimately be able to request to speak with a Digital Navigator and then look for locations and times most convenient for them.)
